February Chapter Meeting: 2019 Workforce Trends

Understanding your labor market is a key component of successful recruitment and retention programs.  In this presentation, we will examine our local economic situation through analysis of local labor market data.  The meeting will conclude with a short outlook of the regional economy for 2019.  Main topics we will cover include:

  • the local employment and unemployment statistics
  • who is working or looking for work
  • workforce participation in the labor market
  • population statistics (characteristics and demographics)
  • what industries are expanding or contracting
  • where are the jobs and who are the workers

About the Presenter: Ajsa Suljic has been with the Employment Security Department’s Labor Market and Economic Analysis Division for the past nine years. As the regional labor economist covering Southeastern Washington, Ajsa provides labor market information and analysis to local economic planners, administrators, businesses and residents. She is currently serving as local labor market and economic expert to multiple organizations.  Previously she worked for Idaho Department of Labor and Idaho Neurological Institute.
