Legal Hot Topics: What everyone’s worried about and what you can do about it!
Presented by: Sean Brown, Employment Attorney, Vigilant

Changes to legal requirements, and the seeming non-stop threats of change, have left even the most sophisticated HR professionals, in-house attorneys, and employers struggling to understand existing requirements and ways to mitigate risks.  In this presentation, Sean will arm you with the knowledge you need to:

  • Make changes to existing practices to avoid legal risk in everything from cell phone use to meal periods;
  • Understand the current state of affairs in Washington’s wild-west Paid Family Leave world and how to prepare for 2020;
  • Comply with new Washington equal pay and discrimination laws;
  • Proactively address pay equity challenges; and
  • Revise harassment policies, practices, and training consistent with increased public attention and liability exposure.

 

About the Presenter: Sean proudly provides counsel to Washington, Idaho, and Montana businesses on employment and labor matters, includingSean Brown training of HR professionals, managers, and employees on a range of liability issues. Sean is passionate about using his past hands-on HR experience to provide real-world, practical legal advice. Before joining Vigilant, Sean worked for an HR consulting company recruiting talent, onboarding employees, and handling a variety employee issues.
