“WA Paid Family Leave: What Do I Do By This Time?”
Presented by: Bryon Peterson, HR Group International

This presentation will review the latest update of “TO DO’s” as recommended and required for the “Paid Family and Medical Leave” program for the state of Washington, which is effective January 1, 2019.

Participants will review the following significant responsibilities:

• Premium Collection
• Reporting and Remitting
• Benefits Available
• Resources Available
• Rollout Program for the Workforce

Critical evaluation and analysis for HR Professionals will include:

• What benefit does the WA Paid FML provide for employers?
• What deadlines and responsibilities must employers comply with?
• What factors should employers consider with the Voluntary Plan application process?
• How must employers manage reporting and remittance with internal payroll system(s)?
• How must employers manage reporting and remittance with a third-party payroll company?
• What communication with employees about this program should already be in process?

During this presentation participants with HR Certification will address and engage in Strategic Evaluation, Compliance with employment law, Employee Relations and Total Rewards. These processes will equip HR Professionals for business leadership within their respective organizations.

About the presenter: Bryon Peterson is the founder and President of HR Group International (HRGI) serving a broad range of industries. He has more than 25 years of experience successfully providing strategic human resource leadership to businesses. He is recognized for his ability to target and design programs that remove typical business and service problems while creating and maintaining an empowered and satisfied staff. Bryon is a dynamic, effective, and internationally experienced HR Generalist who has the communication skills and knowledge to motivate and engage employees and employers. Bryon worked for Starwood Hotels and Resorts where he was responsible for the human resources discipline in 43 hotels across the United States. Additionally, Bryon spent 12 years working for Marriott International both domestically and overseas. Bryon has worked as a counselor, educator and Director/Principal of a bilingual elementary school in Latin America. Bryon understands business. He is bilingual in Spanish and works easily and productively with all cultures, ages, and genders regardless of skill set.
