Strategies for Handling Tough Workplace Discussions with Confidence

Difficult conversations are a natural part of any workplace—whether it’s providing constructive feedback, addressing conflict, or navigating sensitive topics. However, handling these discussions effectively requires skill, confidence, and the right approach.
In this session, Laura will guide you through practical tools and techniques to help you manage tough conversations with clarity, professionalism, and poise.

By the end of this training, you will:

• Develop active listening and communication strategies to foster productive discussions
• Learn proven techniques, such as the SBI Model and “contrasting” statements, to navigate difficult conversations with confidence.
• Practice real-world scenarios to build skills and reduce discomfort in challenging interactions.
• Through interactive learning and real-life examples, you’ll leave feeling empowered to approach workplace conversations with confidence and lead by example.

Laura is an enthusiastic and informative presenter on both corporate issues and leadership topics and with over 20 years of experience in the field of Human Resources. She offers a special blend of knowledge, experience, and interaction to custom presentations and trainings.

Laura is currently a Councilmember for the City of Grandview, WA, on the Board of Trustees for Yakima Valley College, and is an active board member for several non-profit organizations. She was recently featured in the November 2023 Tri-Cities Journal of Business, was featured on the Ask the Experts Panel: Avoiding HR Pitfalls for the Tri-Cities Regional Chamber of Commerce, was a speaker at the 2023 Tri-Cities Women In Business Conference, and the global Dentsply Sirona World Conference, as well as emcee for the Professional Women's Empowerment Network Empoweher Summit.

Laura provides creation of curriculum and serves as an instructor for local organizations to provide communication and leadership development from the executive level to front line employees.
